Understand The 6 Step Process

  1. Initiate Your Claim

    To start your PPI claim simply call us on 0161 834 5333, fill in one of our forms, or email info@redstarfm.com today! This will allow us to prepare the documents so we can issue them to you for your consideration

  2. Document Completion

    Step 2

    Our PPI claims pack will be sent to you via the post. Upon receipt please read over to make sure you are happy with everything.If you are happy, please review, complete and sign the relevant documents in our claims pack, and send them back to us in the freepost envelope provided.

  3. Claim Received

    Once you have fully completed, signed and returned the documents to us we will begin our investigation by contacting your lender and issuing a request for information on your behalf. We understand that you may not have details for all historical credit agreements and, where possible, we will request this based on the information you have provided to us (name, date of birth, address, previous address etc). In most cases the lender will be able to locate the details required to proceed with your claim

  4. Your Complaint

    We then issue a formal letter of complaint on your behalf detailing the grounds of your complaints and our arguments, your lender has up to eight weeks to respond to our initial complaint. If your lender initially rejects the complaint then we will contact you to discuss this and the validity of their rejection. If we feel that your lender has not dealt with the complaint fairly then, with your agreement, we may take the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. We may request additional supporting evidence from you that will assist the Financial Ombudsman Service in their review of your claim. There is no set timescale for the Financial Ombudsman to review and respond to your escalated claim but we will continue to update you regularly.

  5. Case Outcome

    If your claim is successful you will receive a response from your lender directly or from us to confirm the compensation awarded and how this will be paid to you (If you still have an open account with the lender then the most likely method of payment to you would be via a bank transfer, alternatively they may issue a cheque directly to you).

  6. Case Completion

    For our claim handling services Red Star Financial Management charges you, the Client, 35% + VAT (42% incl. VAT) of the total amount awarded to the Client in full and final settlement of the claim and we NEVER apply fees to unsuccessful cases. PPI stands for Payment Protection Insurance and is an insurance policy specifically created to help you keep up with you loan, credit card or hire purchase repayments in case you find yourself unable to work due to an accident, sickness or unemployment (ASU). Other forms include Life & Accident, Sickness & Unemployment cover (Life & ASU), Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI), Personal Loan Protection (PLP) or Credit Card Repayment Protection Cover (CCRP), these policies are often sold alongside your mortgage, loan, credit card or store card.

If you have taken out a loan, a mortgage or any other form of credit agreement between 1995 and 2009 you may be entitled to claim back the fees on your PPI policy. You may not even know you had it and therefore were paying for it; this means that you may be entitled to claim compensation. These policies are intended to pay the customer’s credit card or loan should the customer become unemployed or ill and become unable to pay the monthly amount themselves.

If a Payment Protection Insurance policy was attached to your borrowing despite your refusal, without your knowledge or because you had to have it to get the loan then you may have been mis-sold PPI. Also, if PPI was sold to you without the terms and conditions being clearly explained, then you have bought a financial product without full knowledge of the cover and the seller may be guilty of negligence.

Other possible mis-sells of PPI include:

You were not offered the option of a monthly premium policy

You were told that PPI was compulsory and that your application for a loan / credit card would be refused if you didn’t take the PPI

You were not asked about your medical history

You were not asked about any existing cover you have in place

You were entitled to full sick pay from your employer

If any of the mis-selling reasons apply, you can reclaim. It doesn’t matter that the loan may have been paid off, or is still running or if the credit card is no longer used – we can still start an investigation with your lender.

If the loan or credit card was paid off more than 6 years ago you’ll probably need the paperwork as the bank may have destroyed their copy.

In order to start your claim we will send you some simple forms to complete. Once you have completed, signed and returned the forms we will begin work. This will involve sending a letter of complaint to your lender(s). In the event that you no longer hold the account details for your lender(s), we can help you get this information. The lender has up to eight weeks to respond to our initial complaint. Depending on the lender, the information we receive may vary, therefore resulting in different timescales for each of your complaints to finalise. We will liaise directly with the lenders and respond to any information requests in a timely manner.

Occasionally we may request some additional information from you in order to proceed with your claim. If you are required to complete any forms or receive any communication from a lender, don’t panic, just call one of our agents and we will guide you through the process

The time can vary depending on how quick we receive information from you. Once we have a case prepared and we issue the initial complaint on your behalf to your lender(s), they have to respond within 8 weeks.
